2.  Water bottling and consumption is increasing.

Statistics from the IBWA (International Bottled Water Association) show that bottled water sales are continuously rising every year. In 2009, bottled water consumption in the United States was at about 8.4 billion gallons. Last year it rose more than 300,000 gallons to 8.7 billion gallons. That’s an increase of 3 ½ percent!  These statistics also show that the average person living in the United States drank more than 28 gallons of bottled water last year, that's a lot of water bottling.

These increases in bottled water sales can be brought on by all sorts of things and events. Droughts, the threat of natural disasters, and decisions made by companies to provide bottled water for their employees or restaurants for their customers can all cause bottled water sales to increase. Consumption also increases when a flu or other viruses begins to spread as many people drink more water to try and stay virus-free. Statements made by the FDA can also encourage people to purchase bottled water instead of drinking regular tap water, which is also good for the water bottling business.

No matter what kind of economic changes we face in the future, one thing we can be sure of is that there will always be a high demand for bottled water. Because global population is always rising, the demand for water bottling can only rise along with it, making the choice to produce or invest in those producing bottled water a smart financial decision.
